About Me

Updated 3/30/2016

I am a Rhode Island native and a proud James Madison University grad. For years I worked as an ocean lifeguard during my summer, and it helped me to adopt a certain mindset – a reminder that I’m just livin’ the dream.

After finishing up graduate school at the University of West Florida, I spent three fantastic years working with the Greek community at Texas State University. However, I felt that something was still missing; that I could do more. Peace Corps service was something I had considered earlier, but simply was not ready commit to a 27 month volunteer gig and ended up spending 33 months in the wonderful country of Ukraine.

Fast forward 28 months and I find myself answering the call once again. After spending a few months at home with mom and dad, finding work in and moving to the great city of Philadelphia, I find myself embarking on another journey – this time to Rwanda. Africa is a continent I have yet to visit, however it might be the assignment itself I am most excited about! I plan to write more often than last time…but I’ve learned that entering Peace Corps service with a plan is risky business.

Shoot me an email from time to time, I’ll be sure to respond when I can: peteisaac22@gmail.com. Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Pete, nice story. Good for you. I am also from RI. Check out my blog at robinp823.wordpress.com
I am loving Chernhiv and training. Also a CD volunteer.

    1. Thanks, Robin. I appreciate it! Welcome to the “A” Team. Always nice to have another Rhode Islander in country…there are a few of us dotting the country. Hopefully our paths will cross sometime before December. Feel free to shoot me any questions you might have about anything. Chernigov is one of my favorite cities in Ukraine, always feels like home. I trained in a village just outside – Nate is with my host mom. Hope you enjoy the holidays!

      1. Pete, Just figured out how to see some comments. I am off to Hadyach in Poltava Oblast. Got the word today. We go to Kiev on Sunday. Training was great but I am happy to move to the next chapter. Hope all is well with you.
